Did COVID 19 finally bring the awaited digital transformation of healthcare? I don't think so

Atualizado: 14 de mar. de 2021

Telehealth and digital health services have grown without precedent since the beginning of the pandemic. The fear of the coronavirus seems to be the main driver for its adoption. We risk missing this huge opportunity for digital health transformation when services now launched only represent a new channel for business as usual. We must take advantage of the falling barriers to the uptake of digital health services to reorganise care delivery and make it integrated, proactive, preventative, personalised, value and result oriented. We must create a hybrid health journey that best combines human and face-to-face touchpoints with remote and digital ones. When we leave our homes again without fear of COVID-19 we cannot go back to the usual business and have missed the opportunity of a generation. Therefore, it is important to analyse which services are really transformative and to distinguish them from those that are only circumstantial.
